Viewing Your Child's Daily Diary

The Daily Diary is your childminder's real-time log of your child's day — meals, naps, and activities, recorded as they happen rather than reconstructed from memory at pickup.

📖 Opening the Diary

  1. Tap the Menu (top left) on your Parent Dashboard.
  2. Select Daily Diary.
  3. If you have more than one child registered with this childminder, choose which one you want to view.
  4. You'll land on that day's diary, headed with your child's name.

🍽️ What's Recorded

Scroll through the day to see each entry as it was logged:

  • Meals — what was offered and how much your child ate
  • Naps — start and end times, so you know their sleep pattern for the day
  • Activities — what they got up to, from outdoor play to quiet time
  • Arrival & collection times — your child's attendance record for the day

Entries appear in chronological order, so scrolling down takes you through the day exactly as it unfolded.

💡Looking for a previous day?

Use the date picker at the top of the screen to step back through past diary entries — useful if you want to check something from earlier in the week.

💬 A Shared Record

Because the diary is filled in live rather than at the end of the day, it's a more accurate account than a verbal handover — and it's one both you and your childminder can refer back to if a question comes up about eating, sleep, or timing.

Why it matters

A complete diary isn't just useful for you — it's your childminder's audit trail for Ofsted, and a record they can lean on for allergy, routine, or safeguarding questions. Checking in on it regularly helps you spot patterns early, like a change in appetite or sleep.
