These are the companies that process personal data for KinderStart. Each one must keep data secure and use it only as we instruct.
We tell childminders at least 30 days before we add or replace a sub-processor that handles children's or parents' data. A childminder can object, or close their account if we can't sort it out.
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Handles children's or parents' data
What it does: Hosting, database, file and photo storage, sign-in, email and text messages
What data: Everything stored in KinderStart: account details, children's and parents' records, photos, documents, invoices and HMRC connection details
Where: London, UK. Photos may be served from nearby locations so they load faster
AWS Bedrock (AI features)
Handles children's or parents' data
What it does: AI features: KinderAssist, receipt and document scanning, observation suggestions and report summaries
What data: The text, photos or documents you send to an AI feature, which can include details about a child. Anthropic makes the Claude models, but they run inside AWS and Anthropic does not receive the data. AWS does not keep it or use it to train models
Where: AWS data centres in the EU, for example Ireland, Frankfurt, Paris or Stockholm
Sentry

What it does: Error reports, so we can find and fix problems in the app

Where: EU (Frankfurt, Germany)
Expo

Your data, including children's records and photos, is stored on AWS servers in London, UK. Some of our providers process data outside the UK: AI features run in AWS data centres in the EU, error reports are stored in Germany, and some providers are based in the USA. When personal data leaves the UK, we only use providers covered by UK adequacy regulations or by the ICO's approved data transfer contract terms.
