Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Setup

This guide explains how to enhance your account security using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in KinderStart.

What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Instead of just entering your email and password, you'll also be prompted for a 6-digit verification code sent to your mobile phone via SMS. This ensures that even if someone discovers your password, they cannot access your account without your physical device.

How to Enable MFA

You can easily enable MFA from your profile settings:

  1. Open the KinderStart app and navigate to My Profile (tap your photo or the user icon in the top right of the dashboard).
  2. Scroll down to the Compliance & Training section.
  3. Locate the Multi-Factor Auth (MFA) toggle.
  4. Switch the toggle to ON.
  5. You will see a confirmation message once MFA is enabled.

Note: You must have a verified mobile phone number associated with your account for MFA to work. If you haven't added your phone number yet, please ensure it's updated in your profile.

The Login Process with MFA

Once MFA is enabled, your login process will slightly change:

  1. Enter your email and password as usual on the Login screen.
  2. After tapping Log In, you will be redirected to the Verify Your Phone screen.
  3. Check your mobile phone for an SMS containing a 6-digit verification code.
  4. Enter the code into the app.
  5. Tap Verify & Log In to complete the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't receive the SMS code?

If the code doesn't arrive within a minute, you can tap the Resend Code button on the verification screen to request a new one. Ensure you have a good cellular signal.

How do I disable MFA?

You can disable MFA at any time by returning to My Profile > Compliance & Training and switching the Multi-Factor Auth (MFA) toggle to OFF.

Is there a cost for SMS codes?

KinderStart does not charge for sending MFA codes, but standard message rates from your mobile carrier may apply.

Can I use an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator)?

Currently, KinderStart supports SMS-based MFA. We are working on adding support for authenticator apps (TOTP) in a future update.
