About this tracker
The Milestone Rainbow puts 30 statements from A curriculum for funded non-maintained nursery settings (Welsh Government) onto one painted poster, six for each Developmental Pathway: Belonging, Communication, Exploration, Physical Development and Well-being.
Each stripe quotes one of the curriculum's “I am learning to” statements for 3 to 5 year olds, so the words are the Welsh Government's own and match what you plan from.
The pathways describe how children learn, not targets to reach by a date, so use the stripes to notice and celebrate learning, not as an assessment checklist.

How to use it
- Print the poster and write the child's name at the top.
- Notice each stripe in everyday play, indoors and out, in English or Welsh.
- Colour the stripe when the child does it often and with confidence.
- Share it with families and use the stripes still to colour as ideas, not targets.

Is this a Progression Step 1 checklist?+
No. It follows the Developmental Pathways that lead towards Progression Step 1. The Curriculum for Wales doesn’t use tick-list milestones, so use it to notice and celebrate learning.
