Completing Your Child's Registration

Before your child's first day, your childminder needs a full picture of who they are — medical history, emergency contacts, who's allowed to collect them, and more. Rather than filling in a paper form together, you complete it yourself in the KinderStart Parent App, in your own time, on your own phone.

📩 Finding the Form

1. If this is your first time, tap the secure link in the invitation email your childminder sent you — it opens the app straight to your child's registration form, no account setup needed first.
2. Already using the app and need to finish or update it later? Tap the Menu (top left) on your Activity Feed and select Child Profiles — or tap the Action Required banner that appears on your dashboard whenever a profile still needs completing.
3. If you have more than one child, choose which one you're updating from the list.

👶 Step 1: The Basics

A progress bar at the top shows four steps — tap a completed step to jump back to it, though you can't skip ahead.

The first step, The Basics, covers:

• Date of birth, gender, and home address
• Collection password — a word your childminder can ask for at pickup to confirm who's collecting your child
• Living arrangements — any relevant custody or care details your childminder should be aware of
• Emergency Contacts — at least one contact with a name and phone number is required before you can save
• Other Settings Attended — any other nursery, school, or childminder your child also attends, with days and a contact name and phone number

❤️ Step 2: Health & Safety

This step covers the information your childminder relies on to keep your child safe day to day:

• Medical Information — allergies, medical conditions, dietary requirements, and your GP's name, surgery, and phone number
• Authorized for Collection — everyone besides you who's allowed to pick your child up, each with their own name, relationship, contact number, and collection password
• SEND / Additional Support Needs — a toggle to flag a possible support need for your childminder to follow up on; this doesn't create a full support plan on its own, it just prompts them to start one

🛡️ Step 3: Consents

Your childminder configures a list of permissions relevant to their setting — things like outings, photography, sunscreen application, or emergency medical treatment. Toggle each one on or off; anything marked with an asterisk is required.

🌈 Step 4: All About Me

The last step is where your child stops being a set of forms and starts being a person your childminder hasn't met yet. It's grouped into:

• Interests & Personality — favourite toys, activities, food, and what they're like
• Family & Background — important people in their life, home language, nationality, ethnicity, and religion or culture
• Routines & Comfort — sleep and feeding routines, and what comforts them when upset
• Developmental Starting Points — independence skills and any developmental concerns you'd like flagged
• Notes — anything else important that doesn't fit elsewhere

✅ Finishing Up

Tap the arrow button in the bottom right to move to the next step, or the checkmark on the last step to save. If your date of birth or a valid emergency contact is missing, you'll see an alert telling you what to fix before you can continue.
