Export a child's learning journey as a PDF with their photos, words and next steps, then download it from Export History.
Childminders who want to give parents, a new setting or an inspector a copy of a child's learning journey. Needs the Standard plan or a free trial. It takes a couple of minutes.
Every observation you record builds a child's learning journey. Export it as a PDF and you have a keepsake for parents: a photo cover, then each observation with its photos, the child's own words, the EYFS areas it covers and what comes next.
Open the Tools tab and tap Learning Journey. Choose the child at the top, so only their observations are listed.
Tap the menu in the top corner and choose Export Journey. KinderStart confirms Export Started. The PDF is built in the background, so you can carry on using the app, and you get a notification when it's ready.
Open Tools, tap Business Settings, then Storage & Data and Export History. The export shows with the child's name. When it's ready, tap Download to open the PDF.
A journey with many photos takes a little longer to build. Export History updates itself, so leave it open and the
Downloadbutton appears when the PDF is ready.
Parents keep a learning journey long after their child moves on, and inspectors read it as evidence of progress. Building it from the observations you've already recorded means there's nothing to copy out, and every entry is backed by what you saw.
