Record a medication consent, give doses against it, see the whole history on one page, and record when the medicine goes back to the parent.
Childminders and assistants who look after a child on regular or "as required" medicine, such as an inhaler. Needs the Standard plan or a free trial. Takes about two minutes.
Record a parent's consent for a medicine, give each dose against it, and hand the medicine back when you're done. Everything about one medicine sits on one page.
Open the Tools tab, tap Health & Safety Logs, then Medication Logs. Tap +, switch to New Consent and tap the child.
Fill in Medication Name and choose Prescribed or Non-Prescribed. For a prescribed medicine, tick I have checked the child's name on the dispensing label. You can't save until you have.
Under How will it be used?, leave As required for a medicine given when needed, or choose Fixed course when it has a start and end date.
Enter the Dosage, then write when and how it is given under Dosage instructions. Tap Save Medication Form. The consent appears on the log marked Pending signature until the parent signs.
Tap +, choose the child, then pick the consent under Consented medication. The medicine, dosage and reason fill in from it. Add your name and save. If the parent hasn't signed yet, you're asked to confirm first.
Tap the consent on the log. One page shows the summary and a timeline of who signed, each dose given and when it expires.
Tap Mark as returned to parent and confirm the date. The card on the log now reads Returned with the date, and it moves below your active consents.
Linking every dose to its consent, and recording the return, keeps the whole history in one place and shows an inspector the medicine was given with permission and left your care.
