Put a parent's medication consent on file, then pick it when you log a dose so the details fill in and the record shows what authorised it.
Childminders and assistants who give medicine. Needs the Standard plan or a free trial. Putting a consent form on file takes a minute; every dose after that takes seconds.
When you record a dose, KinderStart offers the child's consent forms and fills in the medicine, the dose and the reason for you. It also checks there is a signed form before the medicine goes in, and records the answer on the dose either way.
Open the Tools tab, tap Health & Safety Logs, then Medication Logs. Every dose given and every consent form on file is listed here.
Tap +, stay on Log MAR, and tap the child. KinderStart checks their consent forms straight away. If there is nothing on file you'll see No active parent consent form on file for this child, and no picker.
Fill the dose in by hand and tap Save Medication Form. You'll be asked to confirm. Cancel takes you back with everything you typed still there; Save anyway logs the dose and records that there was no consent form. Open the dose later and it says Logged with no parent consent form on file.
Tap + again and switch to New Consent. Pick the child, then fill in Medication Name, Prescription Status, Dosage, Reason for Medication, Storage Requirements and Last Dose Given by Parent (Time). Tap Save Medication Form.
Open the consent from the log and tap Sign In Person, so the parent can sign on your phone at drop-off. You can also leave it for them to sign in their own app.
Tap +, stay on Log MAR and pick the child. The Consented medication picker now lists the form as "medicine — dose". Choose it and the medicine, dose and reason fill in, with how it's stored, whether it's prescribed and when the parent last gave some shown underneath. Change anything you need to, then save. A signed form in date saves with nothing to confirm.
It's still listed, marked (awaiting parent signature). You can log a dose against it, but you'll be asked to confirm first, and that is recorded on the dose. Choose Other (manual entry) at any time to type the details in yourself.
Open a saved dose. It shows Authorised by consent: with the medicine and dose from the form, or the reason no consent was used. Editing the dose later leaves that link alone.
Written parent consent has to be in place before any medicine is given, and you have to be able to show it years later. Linking the dose to the form does that for you, so the answer is on the record rather than in two separate piles of paper. Where there was no signed form, the record says so plainly instead of staying silent.
