Parent Visibility for Childminder & Assistant Qualifications

Video Walkthrough

KinderStart provides complete transparency and confidence for families by giving parents direct access to verified childminder credentials, statutory Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certifications, DBS checks, and assistant qualifications.

🛡️ Statutory Compliance (EYFS Section 3.44)

Under the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework (Section 3.44) and Care Inspectorate regulations in Scotland:

"Childminders should make PFA certificates, or a list of staff who have a current PFA certificate, available to parents and/or carers on request."

KinderStart automates this compliance digitally, giving parents 24/7 access to inspect verified practitioner credentials directly in the Parent App.

📱 Viewing Setting & Practitioner Profiles (Parent App)

  1. Open the KinderStart Parent App.
  2. Tap the Menu (top left) on your Parent Dashboard.
  3. Select Setting & Qualifications.
  4. You can now view:
    • Registered Setting Overview: Registration number (Ofsted / Care Inspectorate / CIW), address, contact information, and setting welcome bio.
    • Lead Childminder Profile: Verified Enhanced DBS check, active Paediatric First Aid status, safeguarding training, and early years diplomas (e.g. Level 3 Early Years Educator, Degree, QTS).
    • Assistants & Team: Qualifications, CPD certificates, and active first aid status for all assisting practitioners.
    • Certificate Viewer: Tap View Certificate on any qualification to preview the verified digital certificate.

🔒 Childminder Privacy & Visibility Controls

Childminders maintain control over what information is shared with parents:

  1. In the Childminder App, navigate to SettingsBusiness Profile.
  2. Scroll to the Parent Visibility & Qualifications section.
  3. Use the toggles to configure your preferences:
    • Share Qualifications: Display Early Years educator qualifications and diplomas.
    • Share Paediatric First Aid (PFA): Surface active PFA certificates (statutory best practice).
    • Share Assistant Profiles: Display registered assistants and their qualifications.
    • Allow Viewing Certificate Documents: Allow parents to view uploaded PDF/image certificate scans.
  4. Tap Save Changes.
