About this tracker
The Learning Tree turns the 42 Development Matters statements for babies and children from birth to 3 into one painted poster. Each leaf is a statement, grouped on branches by the seven areas of learning.
From birth to 3 the prime areas lead: early communication (babbling, first words, joining in with songs and rhymes), physical development (rolling, crawling, walking, using hands to explore) and personal, social and emotional development built on secure attachments with the people who care for them. The Development Matters statements for this age reflect that, so many are about relationships, talk and movement.
Pin it up at child height and colour a leaf when a child shows it most of the time. Children love watching their tree fill up, and it gives you an easy, visual way to talk with parents about progress.
