About this tracker
The Milestone Rainbow puts the Development Matters statements for babies and children from birth to 3 into the stripes of a painted rainbow, one colour for each area of learning.
From birth to 3 the prime areas lead: early communication (babbling, first words, joining in with songs and rhymes), physical development (rolling, crawling, walking, using hands to explore) and personal, social and emotional development built on secure attachments with the people who care for them. The Development Matters statements for this age reflect that, so many are about relationships, talk and movement.
Children colour a stripe as they reach each milestone. It makes progress something they can see and be proud of, and it is a lovely keepsake when they leave your setting.
